Insta Update

While I was on hiatus I didn't leave my nails bare all the time, although there was multiple instances of cracked and just sad nail polish :(. I did manage to do some nail art belive it or not, but instead of sitting down to do a nice post about it I uploaded it to Instagram. Because fast.

Let's start with the most recent first, because that's the only way Picasa will allow me to upload them.  These nails were done for my senior prom last Saturday. It was Great Gatsby themed, so naturally I went as a 1920's flapper and my date was a gangster. It was fantastic, the best dance experience I've ever had.

These nails I wore to a Giants game over spring break. Nothing really fancy, but that ring though.

I wore this interesting polish to my interview with Polaroid, since it perfectly matched my blazer. It's made by Scotch Naturals and I think it's water based? Whatever it is it makes for interesting removal, but it smells kinda like peanut butter. I might do a review of it just cause it's a strange polish.

Sunny sun! I did these before going to my little brothers baseball game. I got bored halfway through and peeled them off since I used Elmer's glue under the glitter. So these were very short lived.

I saw this makeup look from Chanel on tumblr and knew I needed it on my nails. 'Nuff said.

I did my friend Alyssa's nails for Sadie's, it was a kinda 90's red/blue theme?

My Super Bowl mani. I watched the game with a house full of Broncos fans, it was very sad.

Red dress and red ruffian for wear a red dress day! This mani actually was actually reposted by a company called Ruffian, thinking I had used their polish (it's Revlon). But the kicker is they linked back to the wrong Instagram account and deleted my comments. Thanks but no thanks guys.

Ah and here you see photo quality before I got my 5c. Good ole Sidekick. I was inspired by 'What Does the Fox Say?' which will probably be that weird song I sing as a grandma. The files are from Mont Bleu, and they work beautifully. I lost the travel sized on on a college visit though. Grr :(.

Besides nail art, there was a copious amount of selfie taking. I think when you feel cute you should document it for times you feel not so cute. And yes I felt cute with a surgical eyepatch on. Red lipstick does wonders.

I also went to San Francisco! It was fantastic, I got to see my Giants play live ^-^.

Something else that is a bit new to my Instagram, since getting an iPhone and working at Polaroid (where we say everyone is a photographer) I've become very interested in iPhoneography. It's a fun way to express myself without the hassle of heavy equipment, since I love regular photography too. I even met Josh Johnson! So if you want to stay updated with all that stuff follow the Instagram link in my sidebar or go to @haleighbug333. I'll probably do little mini Insta Updates every now and then just for stuff that doesn't get on the blog. Goodnight Internet ☾.

Monday Musings: It's a Good Thing Blogs aren't Roses

I've never been good at keeping plants alive. I currently have an array of dead roses and something that never even got the chance to bloom sitting on my back porch. Very dead. Like OMG dead. So it's a good thing blogs aren't plants, they just kinda sit here until you come back. Back from what though? Well I'm glad for rhetorical questions so I can do a segway like this.

So since my last post in December I've had quite the fascinating life for a seventeen year old without a license, since most adventures at this point in life seem to require one. And a car too probably. But anyways, I was accepted to literally the only college I applied for, Southern Utah University, because I knew that's where I wanted to go and application fees are a no. I was also awarded the Legacy Scholarship since my dad graduated from there, so I'll be paying close to in-state tuition. Yay debt free adulthood! I was hired at my first job ever, a great place called ChillSpot. If you're in Vegas at anytime make a point to go to the Container Park and eat there, it's pretty much frozen food heaven. At ChillSpot I pretty much was doing everything bad for your nails, my nails are just now getting back into pre-dish washing condition. Around the same time I was also hired by Polaroid Fotobar, and I decided to work at both, because that's always a good idea. Obviously I was burnt out after a couple weeks of doing this, and I decided to continue working a Fotobar because even though I LOVED ChillSpot, it felt like the best decision in the long run. What's so funny about working at Polaroid is that I did a post with Polaroid nails forever ago, funny how things work out huh? That music video plays behind the cash wrap 24/7. No joke. I can pretty much mimic Skyler Stonestreet  to a T. I also now own a Polaroid camera, a carrying case, and I even splurged on some film. It's a really great thing I get an employee discount tbh. At the Grand Opening I got to meet Penn of Penn & Teller. Teller was there too but he got to the elevator much faster.

Penn had the ring finger on his left hand painted red. No idea why.
I also met the author of Instant: the Story of Polaroid (who took my picture with the really old camera he shows in the video) and Maripol.

Other than those major things I've just been keeping up with school and turning in what seems to be mountains of paperwork for college and graduation. Why is this much paperwork needed. Let me just graduate please, I don't need to take a zillion exit surveys. So anyways I'm back here, mainly thanks to this video by JacksGap. Bear with me as I re-learn how to do watermarks and stuff, but I'm sure it'll be like riding a bike. There's some other new things I want to try out too that I hope you'll like. Tomorrow I'll do a post that will catch things more up to speed through pictures, so stay tuned for that. Thanks for hanging in there too, it's super cool to come back and see that people have still stuck around while I was figuring out how to adult. You're way better than roses. Stupid roses.

Why am I Such a Misfit?

I find that spirit week sometimes inspires some great, and odd nail art. Today was based on the Island of Misfit Toys, and the criteria was to just be mismatched. I took this quite to heart, and my dad this morning (not knowing it was spirit week) thought I had gone off my rocker!

I used:
Maybelline Onyx Rush
Pure Ice Platinum Basecoat
NYC Sidewalkers
Essie We're in it Together
Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac
Julep Clara
Julep Coco
Revlon Infamous
Stripe Rite Green, Pink, and Yellow

I pretty much just included designs from all the elements in my outfit. This post taught me that I need to figure out another way to take ootd pics without my brother, since all of his turned out blurry. So became the weird leg-selfies. If you want to see my doll make-up you can check it out on my Instagram, @haleighbug333. I only took a picture of that right before washing it off sadly, so it's a little smeared. Expect more spirit filled nails from me this week!

Oh! I included a video of the misfit toys themselves in case you also had the song stuck in your head :)

Christmas Coco

So originally I only intended to take the first month of my senior year away from blogging to really focus… but then it turned into a whole semester. The longer I stayed away the harder I found to get back into it. I wanted to come back when my year bloggiversary was, but I had to work on my school's premier gala. Then about halfway through November I figured I would just come back after my ORLA was done, this huge assignment that all the seniors have to do where you basically write fourteen essays on one book. It was no bueno. So now as of today it's been four months since my last post, and high time I get back into it. I need more than just school and Netflix to stay sane lol. So today while I was deciding what I should paint, I was inspired by my mug of hot coco. I've got a sore throat and it really helps. I started playing around with the colors and patterns on it and really liked this one.

The trees on my cup have these little starbursts patterns, so I did this kinda loose interpretation of them. I think after this I'm going to end up making another cup.

I used:
Revlon Posh
Pure Ice Platinum White

I hope you are all keeping warm this winter and have a hot beverage of your own!

Next Stop: the Twilight Zone

Do do do do do do do do. The Twilight Zone is a classic example of science fiction, starting in 1959. The episodes that stand out the most to me is the one where a lady finds a stopwatch that freezes time, and the one where the English language changes so everybody is saying that Wednesday means a cat and dinosaur means lunch, but one guy isn't apart if the trasition so he's just left extreamly confused.

At first I was going to do a skittle manicure of the different symbols from the intro, but the spiral was just so much fun to draw that I ended up doing all of my nails like that. I used a white gel pen to draw the spiral, it's much more precise than a nail art brush, and you can wipe it off if you mess up.

I used:
Maybelline Onyx Rush
White Gel Pen

Tokyo

I just couldn't get the manicure I wanted to do for Tokyo right before I had to leave, but here's the inlinks!

Red for Luck

Hey guys! I'm coming at you from the opposite side of the country, I'm in New York! My little brother is participating in a tournament in Cooper's Town, and I got to tag along. We're finally settled in to the rental house we're sharing with the rest of the team. I did all of my posts right before I left, so I'm editing and writing from my iPad. The only drawback so far is that I can't label the posts.

I decided on a simple look for Beijing, just a red and gold gradient. Red is often used as a symbol for good luck in China, it's everywhere on the New Year.

I used:
Revlon Red
Maybelline Bold Gold

This is the last night to enter the giveaway, so if you haven't yet go now, there's a link in the side bar! If you want to see what I'm up to in New York you can follow me on Instagram, I'll try to post some cool pictures besides selfies. The other day I was at Niagara Falls and totally spaced taking any pictures!
